Nicole was raised in nothing short of a one horse town not too far south of the Georgia line, which some say is where she gets that “southern twang”. Dirt roads, pick up trucks and country music defined what her life would be. It was at an early age that she discovered God had given her a special talent, but it wasn’t until years later that she realized that talent that would consume her dreams and aspirations to be a country music entertainer.
After moving to the Carolinas several years ago she began to pursue her much sought after music career. She quickly landed a position as female vocalist for the band, Kickstand Cowboy. As things began to fizzle in the band, Nicole wasn’t ready to give it up. She and her long time guitar player, Earl Farrior, decided to put together a trio to play at local restaurants. This trio consisted of just two guitar players and herself. After careful consideration and several guitar players, they finally got the piece that made the puzzle worthwhile….they found Corky McClellan. Together they made a name for Midnight Steel and found themselves playing every weekend in the Winston-Salem area. Nicole was a finalist in the 2009 Rising Star of Tennessee vocal competition back in March where she received high scores and remarkable comments from the judges. As 2008 Childress Idol of Childress Vineyards in Lexington N.C., Nicole opened for artists such as LeAnn Womack, Jamie Johnson and Adam Gregory on the Grandstand Stage at the Lexington BBQ Festival.
It was in June of 2009 when Nicole visited Nashville for the first time. She landed a few songs on the stages of Tennessee while visiting and quickly learned what she’d known all along…Nashville was where her heart was and she’d stop at nothing to make her career successful. Upon making contact with management of the world famous Tootsies Orchid Lounge, Nicole earned her trio a spot on their stage. That spot paid off. Before she left Tennessee, Nicole was offered a position to play for Tootsies full time.
Nicole currently plays anywhere from four to seven nights a week at Tootsies Orchid Lounge and Rippy’s BBQ. She doesn’t have a degree in music or a list of awards to flash, but it’s her ability to tell a story through a song that will help you appreciate who she is and what she does.
